This section explains our
promises to you and serves to
form the terms and conditions of
membership of The Mobile
Channel.
How do I get invited to take part in research?
Once you have become a member of The Mobile Channel you will be eligible straight away to be invited to take part in research.
When a survey
comes up where a client needs the views of someone who, for example, lives
where you do, then you will be put forward for invitation. It is then down
to a little bit of luck as to whether you are one of the few hundred people
who are asked to take part.
Will you contact me to ask for further information?
Sometimes we will contact you to ask a little bit more information to see
if you “fit the bill” to take part in some upcoming research project. These
“fit the bill” questions are a maximum of 2 minutes long, but usually only
take a matter of seconds to complete. For example, we may ask if you have a
DVD player, if we are looking for owners' views on certain types of DVD
players.
We don’t pay for you doing these quick questions as we don’t get paid
ourselves for them, however for each one you complete we will provide you
with 10 entries in our regular prize draw, and depending upon how you
answer, you may be preselected for a full paid-for survey soon after.
In what ways will you contact me?
We will primarily contact you by email and sms, however on occasion we may contact you by calling you or sending a questionnaire to your registered address.
You will always be able to clearly identify anything communication from us – emails and letters will be very clearly from The Mobile Channel, text messages will always say “TMC Research” or “TMC Rsrch”, and in any phone call we will right up front clearly tell you that it is someone calling on behalf of The Mobile Channel.
All our surveys are for genuine research purposes and your answers will never be used to try and sell you something at a later date.
Will I always be rewarded for taking part in research?
The short answer is Yes! In every case where you take part in research for The Mobile Channel, and our sister company Research-Now, you will be rewarded.
The rewards work like this:
- Fully complete any research which takes more than 2 minutes of your time, and we will reward you with an amount, clearly stated up-front, which will be credited directly to your TMC account within seven days. For all full completes, we will also give you 10 entries into our regular £250 cash prize draw.
- For “fit-the-bill” questions, where we need to find out a few details first in order to tell if you are suitable for a particular research project, then we will give you 10 entries in to our regular £250 cash prize draw.
The only case where we don’t reward
people is where we identify that someone is not being honest in their
approach to the research, for example by providing meaningless answers, or
trying to do multiple completions of the same survey. This only occurs very
occasionally and is only used as a means to stop one or two dishonest people
from spoiling the opportunity for everyone else.
Who is Research Now?
Research Now! is the “corporate” facing brand of
the Mobile Channel, which works with reputable research agencies and
manufacturers in helping them understand their customers by helping them
gain the views of real people like you.
How do I get in touch with The Mobile Channel?
If you want to get in touch with someone about any aspect of our service, or
if you would like to make any suggestions about how we can make our service
better, then please don’t hesitate to contact us in any of the following
ways:
a. Email us: ms@themobilechannel.co.uk
b. Text us on: 07903 120 843
c. Call us on our local call number - 0845 330 2222 - between 9am and 6pm weekdays
Is there a minimum period of membership?
No. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us in any of the ways described above
When will my rewards be paid?
As soon as your account reaches £5 (£10 for mobile top-up vouchers which is now their minimum denomination) we will send your vouchers to the address that you have registered with us. If you unsubscribe from the service before you have accumulated a £5 balance, or if for reasons beyond our control we were required to suspend the service before this, we are not able to pay the reward.
Our lawyers also say that we must tell you that
we “reserve the right to offer a substitute reward of equivalent value”.
This is in case, for some unforeseen reason, we are unable to obtain your
first choice of reward. We also have to tell you that we “reserve the right
to change the value of rewards paid for research that you undertake”,
although it is not our intention to do this.
Do I have to be 16 or over and live in the UK to join The Mobile Channel?
Yes, at the moment due to the way in which research is recommended to be conducted, we are not able to offer a service to people under the age of 16, or who live outside the UK.
How does The Mobile Channel make money?
We charge researchers
for collecting the views and opinions of the people who are likely to be
customers of their products and services. Our members' views are obviously
very important in this process and so we pass on some of that payment
directly to you.
Do you guarantee to protect personal information that you have given to us.
Yes - Absolutely. We understand that the information you give us is of a personal nature and should be handled with the utmost care and for those purposes for which you have given your consent. As a result, we promise to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "DPA") and to ensure that any brands contacting you through us also comply. In particular, we promise to observe the eight principles of good practice laid out under the DPA. In summary, these state that data must be:

- used in accordance with your rights
- secure
- not sold to companies in other countries without adequate protection
However if at any time you wish end your membership of The Mobile Channel and have your personal data removed from our database, please contact us by any of the three ways outlined above.
